Apple's Next Event Set for October 28th, With New MacBook Pros Expected
After this month's smart home showcase, Apple is turning its attention back to the Mac — and reportedly the iPad Mini.

Apple just sent out invites for a second product event this month, set for October 28th at 1PM ET in Los Angeles. It's a quick turnaround after the company's "Welcome home" event on October 13th, which centered on smart home gear. This time, the focus shifts to computers.
According to Bloomberg, Apple is expected to announce new Macs and a refreshed iPad Mini at the event. The headline act is reportedly a redesigned MacBook Pro featuring an OLED touchscreen, a lighter chassis, and a notch styled after the iPhone's Dynamic Island — the pill-shaped cutout that houses Face ID hardware and doubles as an interactive status display. If accurate, it would mark one of the more significant design overhauls to Apple's pro laptop line in years, moving beyond the Mini-LED displays the MacBook Pro currently uses and introducing touch input to a Mac notebook for the first time.
Bloomberg's reporting also points to a 14-inch MacBook Pro in the mix, alongside a new iMac built around Apple's M6 chip. The M6 debuted recently in the Mac Mini, so folding it into the iMac would bring Apple's all-in-one desktop in line with the rest of its refreshed lineup.
The iPad Mini is also due for an update, per the report. The small tablet is said to be getting an OLED screen of its own, plus a repositioned selfie camera that moves to the landscape edge — a change that would make video calls look more natural when the iPad Mini is propped up horizontally, something Apple has already done with its larger iPad models.
Apple hasn't confirmed any of these specifics. The only official word so far is a teaser from Greg Joswiak, Apple's senior vice president of worldwide marketing, who posted on X: "Can't wait to pro and tell next week."
A second act, fast
What's notable here isn't just what's rumored to ship, it's the pace. Apple just wrapped an event two weeks ago where it introduced the HomeView smart home hub, an updated Apple TV 4K and Siri Remote, and a second-generation HomePod Mini. Stacking a Mac- and iPad-focused event right on top of that is a departure from Apple's usual rhythm of spacing out major announcements, and it suggests the company has a full slate of hardware ready to move before the end of the year.
For now, everything beyond the date and time is based on reporting rather than Apple's own confirmation. We'll know definitively what's real on October 28th.
